Finding balance - Mountaineering in Zillertal

Alpine landscapes

Our guests are able to enjoy the magical countryside of the Upper Zillertal along a well-developed network of hiking paths totaling over 200 km in length.
We have custom-tailored hiking tips for every guest, allowing you to explore and experience the enchantment of this unique alpine world to the full.
From relaxing walks, to easy hikes, hikes to alpine huts, as well as high-alpine expeditions, we have everything you could possibly hope for!

Some Hiking Suggestions:

Edelhütte

Edelhütte:
Start: From the mountain terminal of the Ahornbahn lift (elev. 1978m), trail No. 42a heads off to the left towards the Filzenkogel (2227m, summit cross). The magnificent views of Mayrhofen are unique. Remaining essentially level as we make our way around the shoulder of the mountainside, we then ascend once more beneath the Filzenschneide towards the Edelhütte (2238m), which we can already see.

Kassler Hütte

Stilluptal- Grüne Wand Hütte -Kassler Hütte:
From Gasthaus Wasserfall (1108m) in Stilluptal Valley, we now walk along the road alongside the reservoir.  After about a 30-minute walk, we come to our next refreshment opportunity, the Stilluphaus (1200m). From there we continue uphill along the road as far as the Grüne Wand Hütte (1438m). The path now leads us to the Kassler Hütte. Time on trail from the Grüne Wand Hütte to the Kassler Hütte: ca. 2 hours.

View of the Höhenweg trail

Aschaffenburger Höhenweg or Sieben Schneide Trail:
As we make our way over 7 ridges and 9 alpine cirques, please be aware that there are no marked trails allowing you to drop back down to the valley along the way.  From the Edelhütte (2238m), our path leads across grassy pastures to the Popbergschneide basin. An extended crossing brings us to the Krummschnabel ridgeline. We then make a steep descent to the Hasenkar, followed by another steep climb (trail secured by fixed cables) to the Samerschartl on Noferten ridge. We then drop down to the Nofertenkar. At an elevation of about 2300m, we make our way across the cirque towards  a striking wall of stone (Nofertenmauer). We continue through the Weisskarjoch, Samerkarjöchl (2174m) until we reach the Sonntagskarkanzel. At the base of the Rosswand, the Kasseler Hütte (2178m) comes into view.

Kolmhaus

Kolmhaus-Brandberg:
Our starting point is Gasthof Thanner (1082m) in Brandberg (take the public bus to this point).  At the car park, a narrow path climbs steeply to the hamlet of Ahornach (ca. 20 minutes). We then follow a paved road as far as the last farmhouse (Frodls). We hike steeply uphill until we reach the Kolmhaus (1845m)...
