Winter Hiking Tips

Rastkogelhütte 
Time on Trail ca. 1 ½ hours, trail No. 18. Take your car from Hippach to Schwendberg and the Zillertaler Höhenstraße / toll booth; park your car here. A road now leads you from here to the Rastkogelhütte ( DON'T FORGET A SLED!)    

Mayrhofen-Mariensteg-Astegg
Time on Trail ca. 2 hours, trail No. 2. From the valley terminal of the Penkenbahn lift through Rauchenwaldgasse and crossing the bypass over the Kohlstatt bridge. After the bridge make a left, then an immediate right.  Following the path, you will come to the turn-off for Astegg. Follow this path and, in about 20 minutes, you will reach a fork and head for Zimmereben, and after another 20 minutes, follow signs for Finkenberg. After another one-hour's walk, you will come to Astegg.  If you wish, return along the road to Finkenberg, then by bus or on foot to Mayrhofen.  

Ginzling-Innerböden 
Time on Trail 1 ½ hours. From the village of Ginzling, about a 1-hour walk along the footpath or the forestry road (old road to Gasthof Leitenhof ), ca. 11/2 hours to the Innerböden cafe (1,303m )  

Zillergundweg - Gasthof Zillergrund 
Time on Trail ca 11/2 hours, trail No. 45. From the Ahornbahn valley terminal to the Stillupp toll station, continue left to Oberkumbichl and alongside the Ziller river to the Kröbasbrücke bridge and Gasthof Zillergrund. Return along the Zillergrund road. If you continue hiking in the direction of the Klaushof or Häusling, please check in advance for avalanche warnings.  

Wiesenhof  
Time on Trail ca. 11/2 hours, trail No. 40. From the Ahorn valley terminal - Oberkumbichel to the toll station, continuing along the Stilupperstrasse road, ca 30 min to the turn-off for the Wiesenhof, then along a forestry path to Gasthof Wiesenhof.
